July

I can’t believe it’s July already, and it’s the usual British summer of four seasons in a day! Well, I suppose we should expect it, par for course around Wimbledon time.

Things seem to be hotting up on the social front though - lots of weddings and parties now going ahead although I did hear of one that had to be cancelled due to the poor bride going down with the Covid!

A wonderful wedding present is personalised bed linen - we can place monogrammes in the centre of a duvet cover as a feature or we can be more discreet and place them on the edge of a pillow case:

We are having to re-learn our social skills though. People seem to either talk too much through being totally over excited at seeing each other or struggle to find anything meaningful to say having done nothing but watch the telly for eight months!

I’m longing to go on holiday but going abroad when the rules change so quickly sort of puts me off the idea. A wonderful alternative has been staycations which are great fun and has the added benefit of letting me test out everyone’s bed linen; some good, some bad (although pointing this out often requires some tact!).

I’m also keeping very busy in the garden after kindly being brought a tomato and a runner bean plant. I then felt rather inspired when I went to buy grow bags to put them in which then led to getting them some brothers and sisters to keep them company. I am now watching over my brood like a mother hen and counting flowers!!

I’ve also started doing a bit of entertaining (tricky as I seem to have forgotten how to cook!). My favourite thing at the moment is ceviche. Zero cooking skills required - just a sharp knife, some fresh fish, herbs and a lemon squeezer but the resulting oohs and aahs are very satisfying! This is also when I get to show off my monogrammed napkins which are another great wedding present.
